Quality Assurance Standard for Professional Groomers

 groomers final

The Pet Industry Federation has launched its new Quality Assurance Standard for Groomers, offering a benchmark of quality for professional groomers and members of the British Dog Groomers' Association, which will show pet owners that their dogs and cats are in competent and capable hands.

‘The Pet Industry Federation realises that a bold move is needed to counteract the negative press groomers can experience, and what better than to robustly demonstrate just how safe, caring and professional groomers are through an industry-agreed Quality Assurance Standard,’ explained Nigel Baker, chief executive of the Pet Industry Federation. ‘A working party of members of the British Dog Groomers’ Association has helped the Federation Secretariat devise a standard which provides BDGA members with the opportunity to be professionally audited and then to proudly display the assurance logo and certificate on successful completion.’

Groomers who have achieved the City & Guilds Level 3 dog grooming qualification can undertake the quallity assurance scheme. The standard consists of an independent audit of the grooming business, covering areas such as animal welfare, staff training, equipment, health & safety and customer care. Groomers also take an online assessment to measure their technical competence.

If you would like to know more, we have a produced a new brochure with details of the standard and what it means for your business. Please download it here.
